History of Matsuya

1869 Tokube Furuya opened the Tsuruya Gofuku Store in Ishikawa-cho, Yokohama City (November 3) 1889 the Matsuya Gofuku Store located at Imagawa-bashi
1880 Furuya-gumi was formed, and regulations were established From around this time, classes on sewing methods began as part of employee training (Trends: Western-style clothing, shawls, black collars for kimonos, and bangs)

1946 Entire Ginza Flagship Store and Yokohama Store were taken over and occupied by the U.S. military's GHQ (general headquarters) as a PX (postal exchange), and the sales space at the Asakusa Store significantly decreased due to damage from the war
